Americans celebrate July 4th to remember our historic birth as a nation, founded on the principles of God-given liberty and on the truth that all men are created equal in our Creator's sight. But, times are changing.
Bible believing Christians are facing challenges to our fundamental rights to freedom of religion and freedom of conscience - the rights we have to believe and speak and act upon the tenets of our faith without fear of retaliation. Our Founders knew that this God-given liberty was one that pre-existed government itself because man's duty to God came before man's duty to government. This is why our religious liberty was considered among the highest and most sacred of our natural rights and given preeminence in the First Amendment to the Bill of Rights.
Our generation cannot sit quietly and merely watch as the very liberties that our Founders won at such great cost be destroyed by harmful government policies. We cannot remain passive in the face of a government that acts as if religious faith must remain within the walls of the church building on Sunday. Our nation was founded on the principles of freedom, and the free exercise of religion has always been recognized as an active, vibrant part of all society. We dare not let righteousness fall in the public square. (Isaiah 59: 14-16).
