Jeff and Lisa moved to Georgia and Glynn County in 1992 when Jeff joined ABC Home Health, Inc. as its Vice President of Human Resources. Over his 20-year corporate career prior to putting down roots and calling Georgia and Glynn County home, Jeff served as Vice President of Human Resources, and held other positions, with KinderCare Learning Centers, Illinois Tool Works, Dillard Department Stores and Zale Corporation.
Jeff served four years as Board Chair for Safe Harbor Children’s Center, having served a total of 15 years on their board. The Jones family are active in the St. Simons Community Church in a number of volunteer positions.
In 2013, Jeff was Chairman of the Glynn County Republican Party, a position he held until he stepped down to devote all of his energies and efforts into winning the district 167 house race in 2014.
Jeff and his family are active supporters of Habitat for Humanity, where his wife Lisa serves as Board Secretary, CareNet Pregnancy Center, The Gathering Place and Children in Action youth ministries in addition to supporting a variety of other local charities.
Jeff and Lisa have been married for over 30 years and have one son, Brant, who is currently a junior at the University of North Georgia.
Jeff attended the University of Texas and Vanderbilt University, in addition to the other education and professional training he has received over the past 40 years.
Representative Jeff Jones represents the citizens of District 167, which includes portions of Glynn, Long and McIntosh counties. He also serves on the Insurance, Interstate Cooperation, Small Business Development and Science and Technology committees.
Crime / Law Enforcement
We must support law enforcement; $100 million could be raised by my wire-transfer bill and should be used for local law enforcement pay increases.
FairTax / Tax Reform
Jeff strongly believes that our present federal income tax system penalizes the productivity and hard work of Georgians and all Americans. Jeff believes strongly in the abolishment of the IRS and replacing the current tax code with the FairTax. He is a proponent of tax simplification on all levels.
Guns / 2nd Amendment
Jeff is a strong supporter of the NRA, Georgia Carry, and other groups promoting the constitutional right to bear arms. Jeff believes that “gun-free zones” particularly in our schools, make the students and faculty easy targets for those who intend to do them harm.
The process of “zero-based budgeting” must continue, as we work to streamline our state government.
Homeland security begins with border control. Georgia must stop issuing driver’s licenses to those in our state without lawful status.
Jeff believes that the role of government in business should be to create an environment that encourages entrepreneurship and business growth by reducing or eliminating obstacles and expensive, burdensome regulations. Jeff’s many years of business experience, both at the corporate level and as a small-business owner, puts him in a unique position to help Southeast Georgians, and the local economy in general, grow and prosper.
Jeff is a strong proponent of the sanctity of life and believes that life begins at the moment of conception.
Rights of Individuals, Local and State Governments
Jeff believes that state government should respect the rights of local governments by not usurping local government authority, and he believes that the Federal government has exceeded its Constitutional authority by forcing laws and regulation upon the states and individuals.
